Creating Twitch.tv assets for streamer Mors_Ultra
Creating emotes for a streamer is a great way to enhance their community experience and strengthen their brand. Emotes allow viewers to express themselves in chat, making interactions more engaging and fun. Custom emotes also help a streamer stand out, giving their audience unique ways to react and connect with inside jokes, catchphrases, or themes specific to the channel. For this project, the client requested emotes as celebration for reaching affiliate.

Mors requested a total of 10 emotes for his channel. He requested specifically for a laughing, raid, and surprised emote. The rest were decided on based on his personality and who he is as a streamer. Sketches were made digitally then shown to the client as each one was drawn to ask for feedback. Mors Ultra liked the splash of yellow on select emotes to add visibility and personality. A challenge with this character’s design was the helmet. It was difficult to draw it at different angles. As the emotes were sketches out, they were repeatedly viewed from different sizes to ensure they would still be legible from Twitch.tv’s small format.

Final Product
For the final product, the emotes color palette was kept as close to the original as possible. However, for visual clarity at a smaller scale, minor adjustments were made. A white boarder was created around each emote to ensure they work against any background settings.
